Health Benefits of Juicing

We recently received a juicer as a wedding present and I am anxious to explore all the possibilities! Here’s a juice I’ve made several times from Dr. Oz’s 48 hour weekend cleanse.

Kale, Pineapple and Ginger Detox Drink

Ingredients (Makes 4 Servings; Drink Throughout the Day)

1/2 cup pineapple

2 large cucumbers

1 bunch kale without stems (4 cups chopped)

1/2 lemon, squeezed

1/4 inch of ginger

1 bunch of mint (1/2 cup)

Directions

Combine all ingredients and blend in juicer.

*If you don’t have a juicer, you can use a high speed blender and squeeze the blend through a nut milk bag.  This is the same method used for making almond milk. The bags are the same as fine mesh produce bags or pantyhose.  You might need to add a bit more water to the blend to get more juice out.

It has a tangy yet refreshing taste from the lemon and cucumber/mint combo with a sweet finish from the pineapple.

Quite yummy!

Kris Carr and Dr. Oz enjoying green drinks

Kris Carr of Crazy Sexy Life, discovered the benefits of juicing when diagnosed with stage IV cancer- she had no other alternative treatments available to her.  Nearly 10 years later she is feeling better than she ever did even pre-cancer.  Check out more of her story and juicing recipes in her e-guide.

Here are just a few benefits of juicing that Kris mentions:

“Say hello to boundless energy, glowing skin, clear eyes, improved digestion and exceptional health and happiness. Say goodbye to toxins, excess weight, sugar cravings, addictions, premature aging and a lackluster appearance.”

The proof is in the juice!

  1. You make me want to go out and buy a juicer. I luv all the ingredients you used for this drink, but have never processed all together like this. Give more juicer recipes, please!

    • Thanks! Here’s one I just made- its my new fav and a pretty pink too! I’ll post a pic later. Its from BluePrint Cleanse- Apple Beet Pear Ginger (also on Kris Carr’s juicing guide)
1 1⁄2 Granny Smith apple, quartered and cored
1 1⁄2 Bosc or D’anjou pear, quartered and cored
3 small or 1 large (3-ounce) red beet, cut into small pieces
      1-inch piece ginger

  2. Lordy Lauren, I just don’t know if I can handle all this crazy-sexy-juicy stuff at my age! Thanks for sharing and I’ll think about it!

  3. Ready to start juicing again.. It tastes great… just hate all the waste. But will love my waist after a couple weeks of juicing.
